Written in 1974 and updated in 2011 the musical “Working” is based on interviews by Chicago oral historian, Studs Terkel. It was adapted by Stephen Schwartz (“Wicked”) and features collaborations with notable songwriters including James Taylor and Lin Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton”). Each song and monologue successfully convey the feelings of workers and their role in American society; most of whom have not changed in the decades since it was written. New Trier High School’s production features an original set and student lighting design; a student crew and pit band and a cast of 39 Freshmen and Sophomore students.
