Wines of California: Petaluma Gap

According to the Wine Institute there are 139 recognized American Viticultural areas in California; in this class led by Wine and Spirits Expert Belinda Alvarez we will explore the Petaluma Gap. 

Officially recognized in January of 2018 the Petaluma Gap is the newest approved area in California encompassing 4,00 acres and crossing over 2 counties (Sonoma & Marin).  This AVA was a long time coming with 150 year tradition of growing grapes. It was the Petaluma Gap Growers Association, founded in 2005, that is responsible for the submission in 2015 which was not approved until 2017.
