Join us for a Westcott Volunteer Trip to Columbus. We will plan to visit a recently restored Glenbrow/Gunning House and a number of private homes in Rush Creek Village.
Glenbrow, also known as the Gunning House, is a mid-20th Century Modernist house that embodies Frank Lloyd Wright's Usonian principles of organic architecture, as interpreted by its designers who were aspiring Wright disciples: Tony Smith, Laurence Cuneo and Theodore Van Fossen. Van Fossen, a Columbus native who was 19-years-old at the time of his work on Glenbrow, went on to design Worthington’s well known Rush Creek Village in the 1950s.
Rush Creek Village is a historic neighborhood in Worthington, Ohio. It was founded in 1954 by Martha and Richard Wakefield, who—along with architect Theodore Van Fossen—designed and built a community of 48 houses (later expanded to 51) based on Frank Lloyd Wright's principles of Usonian architecture. It's the nation's largest collection of homes based on Wright's principle of organic architecture.
