THE PORTLAND OBSERVATORY CLOSES FOR THE SEASON ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2022. Last tour of the season will be Monday, October 10 at 4:00 p.m.
Tours of Portland's Observatory offer an in-depth history of the builder, Captain Lemuel Moody, the purpose of the signal tower and its impact on Portland Harbor, as well as the history of the physical structure. Additionally, the spectacular views of the Harbor and the city of Portland from the top are well worth the trip!

It received additional recognition in 2006 by becoming a National Historic Landmark and a National Civil Engineering Landmark. Owned by the City of Portland, the Observatory is managed by Greater Portland Landmarks.
45 minute guided tours are offered Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays every half hour from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with the last tour at 4:00 p.m. Each tour is limited to 10 people.
Masks Appreciated But Not Required at This Time. However, masks may be required at certain times, especially if we are unable to open all the windows due to inclement weather. Please be prepared to mask under these circumstances. Disposable masks are also available at the Observatory.
