Tom Ewing & His Buckeye Buddies is a dynamic bluegrass band formed in 2018 to play the traditional based music loved by the members of the group. Fronted by former Bill Monroe Blue Grass Boy Tom Ewing on guitar and vocals, the band captures the spirit and virtuosity of the genre’s past while remaining up-to-date with songs written by Ewing. O-Hio, his musical tribute to the Buckeye State, is widely known and appreciated by bluegrass fans throughout the world! Tom was the guitarist and lead singer for Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys for ten years (1986-1996), and was heard on Monroe’s last 3 albums, including the Grammy winner “Southern Flavor”. A Columbus native, Ewing founded and hosted the “Bluegrass Ramble” on WOSU. He recently wrote his first book, “Bill Monroe: The Life and Music of the Blue Grass Man, published by the University of Illinois Press. When exciting down-home pickin’ and singin’ is called for, along with high lonesome vocals and the magical combination of banjo, mandolin, guitar, fiddle, and upright string bass, Tom Ewing & His Buckeye Buddies will fill the bill!
