Navy Band Southwest: The Destroyers

The Destroyers, Navy Band Southwest’s premier Popular Music Group, upholds the pride and professionalism displayed throughout today’s U.S. Navy. The repertoire for this high energy group encompasses many different musical styles in order to accomplish several distinctly different missions. Performance venues for this dynamic ensemble range from all out rock concerts in high school auditoriums to the smooth pop or jazz combo selections at formal military receptions.

The members of the group keep a vigilant eye on the current music trends while refining and polishing the classics that everyone has grown to love. The result is an exciting, high caliber performance with something for every audience member. The group is currently made up of sound engineer Musician 2nd Class Nate Ward (leader), Musician 2nd Class Rachel Vennel as the lead vocalist, Musician 2nd Class Cliff Murray on guitar, Musician 1st Class Mark Lame on bass, Senior Chief Musician Steve Pendel on keyboards, and Musician 3rd Class Josh Smith on drums.
