First staged in the 5th century B.C., this is the 2nd story in the Oedipus Rex play cycle by Sophocles. This story follows the struggle of Oedipus’ daughter, Antigone, as she faces death after retaliating against the decree of the new King and burying her brother. It’s the battle of an individual’s devotion to Family vs. Country. This production challenges the acting students with the traditional acting techniques and style of the Greek theatre. 

Director Hilerre Kirsch says, “I couldn’t be more proud of this fine group of young artists and technicians! They have embraced the challenges of a 2500-year-old play and made it completely valid for a contemporary audience. Audiences will witness phenomenal storytelling, creativity, and the exceptional artistry, leadership, and teamwork that has been present throughout the entire process. While the storyline content is mature and challenging, this is a must-see for mature community members.”
