Event Description

Free a tree and sow some seeds!

Come visit us for a winter seed sowing workshop and invasive vine removal demo!

Join the Tarrytown Environmental Advisory Council at Lyndhurst to learn about work being done in the historic landscape in your backyard.  Visit the historic Rose Garden for a vine removal (hands-on) demo as part of restoration work happening in the landscape.  Followed by winter native seed sowing workshop (families welcome) in the carriage house where hot cocoa and cookies will be served.  Lyndhurst is a “Green Landscape Champion” leader in sustainable landscaping practices that include on site composting, leaf mulching, invasive vine removal, and more.

Visitors will need to bring their own 3" or deeper clear plastic clamshell containers (which they will use to make mini greenhouses for their seeds).  Seeds and soil will be provided.

This event will begin in the Carriage House with a presentation and will move to the Rose Garden for a demonstration and hands-on learning opportunity. Please wear comfortable, warm clothing that you don't mind dirtying.

The mansion will be closed during this time. The property will only be open during this event.

Event begins promptly at 10am. Please arrive about 15 minutes early to give yourself time to check in and find your seat.
