Event Description
St Simons, 2022 Day Sailings / Free Deck Tours

Step back in time and hear the extrodenary Maritime History of Young America, told to you in the shadows of St Simons Island, where the Live Oak was cut and shipped from for the building of the USS CONSTITUTION "OLD IRON SIDES" from the deck of the War of 1812 Privateer, Lynx.  Lynx is a near interpertation of a Baltimore Clipper launched from the yard of Thomas Kemp in Fells Point, Maryland in 1812.  Today's Lynx serves a plateform of history and experiential learning for all who cherish America's Maritime History.  Help set sail, haul the lines, roam the wooden decks as they did over 200 years ago. Lynx's crew will talk about the guns and fire one of our 6# Carroades.  Lynx is a USCG Inspected Vessel. You are welcome to bring your own food and spirits, please arrive one half hour before departure, plan time for the walk to the ship from the parking lot to the right of the main marina parking. Lynx is located on the Main Pilots Dock through the Rack Storage area.  Please be mindful of the marina's on going work and FORKLIFTS, GIVE THEM SPACE TO DO THEIR WORK!  There is always Coastal Kitchen for lunch or afternoon drinks and relaxing.

Lynx is operating at reduced capacity, please be mindful of social distancing.

Free Deck Tours,  Saturday and Sunday 11am  to 1 pm.  Unfortunately there is no below deck access. Deck tours are free and no appointment is required limited capacity to 12 people at a time.  This is a great way to learn the ships history and to talk to the crew of their unique life style.  Deck tours are free but a $10.00 donation is appreciated.
