“The songs are beautifully arranged, and Björling’s vocals are fully integrated into the ensemble, giving the music the feel of a true collaboration.” – The Whole Note
The Montreal-based Skye Consort plays “trans-Atlantic chamber folk” from Scandinavia, Ireland, the British Isles, and French Canada on fiddle, nyckelharpa, cello, bouzouki, banjo, percussion and with fantastic vocals. What a treat for us, that they have joined forces with the Swedish singer Emma Björling, of the delightful band Kongero. Emma and the Consort met at a folk music project in Montreal in 2017. Serendipitously, at the end of the festival, a storm in Iceland cancelled all the flights from North America to Europe, so Emma and the members of Skye spent the next several days jamming and joking about starting a band. By the time Emma went home, the band was formed and trust us, they are an absolute joy – everything you want in a trad concert event!
