In this 7 week class you will learn how to generate comedic premises, develop a writing practice, sketch structure, styles, and types. You will come out on the other side with sketches generated during the class and amazing tools that apply to comedy and your writing going forward. A great foundation for anyone wanting to know more about the kind of comedy writing you see on Saturday Night Live, Mr. Show, or Key & Peele.
The class will be offered on the following days:
- Weekly on Mondays 10/30 thru 12/11; 7 weeks. 7:00pm-9:30pm PST via ZOOM

Your Instructor Simone McAlonen
Simone McAlonen is an award-winning actor, writer and comedian once described in The LA Times as “a fearless asset.”
Her original comedy pilot, "My Parents Are On Tinder" won Best Comedy Video in Portland and several awards at Portland Comedy Film Festival. Her sketches have been featured on Whohaha and Funny or Die. As a stand up comedian and sketch performer she has performed all over LA including on The Groundlings Mainstage, UCB, The Laugh Factory and various comedy festivals.
She writes and performs at Storytelling events regularly in Los Angeles including EST’s True Story and as part of the “Tales from Herstory” series at The Skirball Cultural Center.

- This class will be happening ONLINE using Zoom. Students should have use of an internet connection and a laptop
