ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Taffy Brodesser-Akner is a staff writer at The New York Times Magazine and a contributor to the paper's cultural pages. She is the author of The New York Times bestseller Fleishman is in Trouble, which was longlisted for the National Book Award and the Women's Prize. She is currently on leave from the Times, adapting her book for ABC Signature and FX into a limited series to air next year. Her second novel, Long Island Compromise, will be published next year. She lives in New York City. 

Lisa Ko's first novel, The Leavers, was a national bestseller, Finalist for the National Book Award and PEN/Hemingway Award, and winner of the PEN/Bellwether Prize for Socially Engaged Fiction. Her short fiction has appeared in Best American Short Stories and her essays and nonfiction in The New York Times, The Believer, and elsewhere. 

Jacqueline Woodson is the recipient of a 2020 MacArthur Fellowship, the 2020 Hans Christian Andersen Award, the 2018 Astrid Lindgren Award, and the 2018 Children's Literature Legacy Award, and she was the 2018-2019 National Ambassador for Young People's Literature. Her New York Times bestselling memoir, Brown Girl Dreaming, won the National Book Award, as well as the Coretta Scott King Award, a Newbery Honor, and the NAACP Image Award. She also wrote the adult books Red at the Bone, a New York Times bestseller, and Another Brooklyn, a 2016 National Book Award Finalist. Her dozens of books for young readers include Before Ever After, New York Times bestsellers The Day You Begin and Harbor Me, Newbery Honor winners Feathers, Show Way, and After Tupac and D Foster, and the picture book Each Kindness, which won the Jane Addams Children's Book Award. 

Isaac Fitzgerald has been a firefighter, worked on a boat, and was once given a sword by a king, thereby accomplishing three out of five of his childhood goals. After making a bunch of cool things for the internet, he now writes books and lives in Brooklyn, New York.
