Due to an unexpected conflict in his schedule, Rahm Emanuel has had to cancel this event.
Progress. Innovation. Effective Governance. The real centers of change are city halls across America, not the federal government, argues the former Chicago mayor and Obama chief of staff.
Cities, Rahm Emanuel notes, are the most ancient political institutions, dating back thousands of years. And today, he argues, they are the only places “left in the world that are immediate, intimate, and impactful.” At a time when partisan gridlock paralyzes our federal government, we need to look to cities to solve our most pressing issues around education, climate change, income inequality, and many more.
From serving two presidents followed by two terms as mayor of his native Chicago, Rahm Emanuel knows this question from both sides. He will discuss it with ABC News' Chief Anchor and host of “Good Morning America”, George Stephanopoulos.
