This Land Is Our Land: Suketu Mehta with Molly Crabapple

From the acclaimed author of Maximum City, an impassioned defense of global immigration.

Drawing on his own experience of immigrating from India to Britain as a child, and then to America as an adult, Pulitzer Prize finalist Suketu Mehta argues that the West isn’t being destroyed by immigrants, but by its fear of them. In This Land Is Our Land, Mehta cites factors from climate change to civil strife that have made borders around the world become more porous. With more people on the move than ever before, he makes a necessary and timely argument for the ways in which immigrants enable communities and countries to flourish, despite the backlash they inevitably face from leaders and unwelcoming citizens.

Now based in New York where he is a professor of journalism at New York University, Mehta will speak about his personal experience of immigration, and those of the the many other people whose stories shaped the writing of his book. He will be joined in conversation by the artist and writer Molly Crabapple.
