- Details
In 1986, 400,000 books were consumed by flames in a fire that devastated the Los Angeles Public Library. More than 30 years later, with the source of the blaze still unknown, award-winning journalist Susan Orlean re-examines the unsolved mystery in The Library Book. Her quest to find the truth is fueled by a life-long love of reading and a deep appreciation for the democratic institution of the library and its guardians who make books available to all. Orlean will speak with Paul Holdengräber about her discoveries as a journalist and as a reader at the flagship location of the largest library system in the country.
