Opening the borders of genre, acoustic guitar duo Opal Ocean fuses together Rock and Flamenco techniques to create their own epic wall of sound.
Forming in late 2013, Alex Champ (New Caledonia) and Nadav Tabak (New Zealand) decided to take their music to the streets busking, using it as a platform for composing their original instrumental pieces. Based in the heart of Melbourne in Australia, the eclectic duo have seen their works blossom enjoying great success, selling over 20,000 physical CDʼs Independently with their single “J.A.M” going viral with over 30+ Million hits on social media.
The momentum from their latest release "MEXICANA" (2018) has created a massive buzz that has pushed them from busking in the streets of Australia onto the world stage. Performing on their first ever tour with countless high profile shows such as The 2018 Montreux Jazz Festival, Gurten Festival, Earth Garden Festival, Berg Herzberg Festival and many more.
2019 Has already seen Opal Ocean do an extensive tour of New Zealand selling out shows from top to bottom of the country and performing on some of New Zealand's Biggest Radio networks, gaining fans in even the most remote areas of the globe.
They plan to do a first tour of Canada in May 2019 and to go back to Europe to play more festivals and venues during the summer 2019.
JUAN DINO TOLEDO TRIO
Juan D. Toledo is a composer and a founding member of Santerías. Hailing from Chile, this guitarist has lived most of his life in Toronto. In the late 1980’s he started playing and recording Rock music in various local bands-including touring with and opening for bands such as I Mother Earth & Jeff Healy. Passionate to grow as a musician he started experimenting with Gamelan guitar playing inspired by Robert Fripp & Adrian Belew from the legendary band King Crimson. Later on, Juan fell in love with Flamenco and started studying Flamenco guitar under the tutelage of Miguel de la Bastide in 1997. This training allowed him to tour with Jesse Cook across the USA.
