New Years Eve "1860's or 1960's" Costume Gala
Tuesday, December 31
Gate opens 6:00pm
Dinner 8:15pm
Countdown at midnight
“Celebrate New Year’s Eve ‘19/2020 in a ‘60s-time warp. Travel back to Jackie O, the Hippies, or even those adorable Madmen, at the Oldest House Museum’s most exclusive costume-dinner party in town.
Be aware, though, the event is about more than the 1960s; this is, after all, Old Island Restoration Foundations 60th anniversary and the Watlington Women—original homeowners, of which 7 were born in the house—will be dressed in 1860s gowns, so choose your favorite era wear because, well, formal attire is requested.
The ladies of yore—and perhaps even Captain Watlington himself—will host, serve and engage you in Emeline’s garden throughout the cocktail hour, sit-down dinner, open bar, Champagne toasts and countdown to the midnight 2020 live-streaming of NYC ball drop in Time’s Square. But the most fascinating live action is on our Front Porch overlooking the Duval Street promenade.
Last New Year’s Eve our wicked DJ got an impromptu “Rooster Strut” going right before the very eyes of our exclusive porch guests. The fun begins at 6 p.m., dinner is served at 8:15 and seating is as limited as the exclusive use of our clean, private restrooms. Sign up now; this event sells out fast.”
