Andrew Finn Magill's Canta, Violino!

North Carolina violinist/fiddler Andrew Finn Magill will be performing on the Old Theater stage with some talented friends playing some of his original acoustic music featuring the violin, guitar, and percussion. Finn grew up in western North Carolina where he studied Irish, old-time, and bluegrass music and played with dozens of the best fiddlers in the world. He has been fascinated by the connections between the fiddling traditions of Ireland and Scotland and their musical cousins of old-time and bluegrass. While living in Rio de Janeiro, he studied Brazilian choro music and founded many Brazilian music groups. He has toured all over the world and will once again land in Oriental on October 20.

Finn has received acclaim from some of the foremost jazz violinists on the planet, including Snarky Puppy's Zach Brock who says Magill displays "effortless virtuosity" and Berklee College's Matt Glaser who calls him "an extraordinary violin virtuoso." Finn is a Fulbright Fellow, a South Arts Emerging Traditional Artist, a North Carolina Arts Council Fellow and a recording artist with Ropeadope Records. He has been featured on MTV-U, PBS, and NPR. His 2016 album, Roots, debuted at number 46 on the folk DJ charts and he has recored six albums since.
