Love Letters

It’s all art, and we’re all artists. Love Letters invites you to take a closer look at books and the stories they contain, and then to look even closer still, peering into words, then letterforms. Our hope is that you’ll begin to find The art within your own words, and that you’ll use your creativity to tell your story and hear other peoples’ stories. Language is a gift, and you have the power to connect with others through it. What do you want to say? Keep creating and telling your story.

Love Letters is a 15,000-square-foot playful pop-up experience that seaches for art and adventure in the alphabet. Housed for a limited time at The Gateway in Salt Lake City, Love Letters showcases art in the form of books, stories, words, and letterforms. After entering through a hidden door in our colorful bookstore, guests can slide down the pages of a giant book, sneak around the side of an oversized bookshelf to find a hidden Tiny Art Show gallery, climb on giant alphabet blocks, literally cover themselves with Ralph Waldo Emerson’s words in Utah’s first and only light installation by Craig Winslow, read historic love letters by famous authors, mail a handwritten postcard, and immerse themselves in shredded paper in our paper shredder room. 

The exhibit includes several site-specific works by world-renowned creators and local artists: Stefan Kunz (Switzerland), Craig Winslow (Oregon), Elizabeth Gray (Virgina), Joseph Alessio (California), Becca Clason (Utah), Ann Chen (Utah), Jill De Haan (Utah), Tayler Mitchell (Utah), Hayley Barry (Utah), Michelle Christensen (Utah), Matisse Hales (Utah), Fell Design (Utah), Tiny Art Show (Utah), So Mighty (Utah), and Everything Experience (Utah).

EACH TICKET INCLUDES:

• Entry to a playgroud of letters and art. (Guest can stay as long as they like—typically 1.5 hours)


• A custom-made pinback button


• A handmade rubber stamp print (each guest will make their own unique print) 


• A postcard and postage to send your own Love Letter
