Thirty years ago, Lou Reed released his iconic New York, partly inspired by Federico García Lorca’s Poet In New York, which the Spanish poet began writing sixty years earlier. To mark the overlapping anniversaries, the special guests will explore the connections between the two poets who never met but whose work reminds us of the vitality and inspiration New York has provided artists throughout its history. The evening, produced by the Lou Reed Archive and poet/writer Jonathan Cott and hosted by the Library, will feature readings and discussion, plus music recordings, videos and photographs from the Lou Reed Archive, part of The New York Public Library's collections.
