Join us at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building for the city’s most cerebral happy hour.

Celebrate Pride at the Library! Get special after hours access to the Rose Main Reading Room and other gorgeous Library spaces. Enjoy live music, a special collections display, and 16mm films; learn about the history of queer kids’ books and get tailored book recs from NYPL librarians.

Special access includes:

  • Live performances in the Rose Main Reading by Be Steadwell

  • Discovery of historic queer picture books—including works that are out of print or only available in our research collections—that trace the shifting attitudes, norms, and realities of queer life over a half century

  • NYC Trans Oral History Project listening stations

  • Crafts and coloring inspired by NYPL collections

  • Unique library-related books and gifts in the Library Shop

TELL CITY LEADERS: NO CUTS TO LIBRARIES!

Your support is as important as ever as public libraries face a proposed $58.3 million in City budget cuts. Following cuts late last fall, the Library was forced to  reduce the vital services we offer to all New Yorkers—including ending Sunday service at all NYPL locations that offered it. If these potential cuts go through, the majority of libraries in our system would lose a full day of service. That means most of our branches would only be open five days a week. Plus, budgets for books, programs, and maintenance will be reduced at all locations. Make your voice heard and sign a letter in support of public libraries: nypl.org/speakout.
