The founder of New York’s beloved cooking school joins special guests to celebrate the culinary expertise of women and immigrants from around the world.
In-person registration for this event has sold out, but livestream tickets are still available. A limited number of standby tickets may be available on the night of the event.
Food speaks a language that transcends cultures. In 2014 Lisa Kyung Gross founded the League of Kitchens to help empower immigrant women to share their culinary expertise and culture through hands-on workshops in their homes and online. Kyung Gross’s unique cooking school blends storytelling with practical cooking advice. A dream-team of women from around the world welcome students into their homes, teaching family recipes from Mexico, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Afghanistan, India, Argentina, Japan, Iran, and beyond. The new The League of Kitchens Cookbook invites readers to bring the classes into your own kitchen.
Lisa Kyung Gross is joined by author and scholar Yael Raviv and baker Abi Balingit to talk about the League of Kitchens, its cookbook, and how to forge meaningful connection, social interaction, cultural engagement and exchange, learning and discovery through the medium of food.
To join the event in person | Doors will open 30 minutes before the program begins. For LIVE from NYPL events, we generally overbook to ensure a full house. Booked seats that have not been claimed will be released shortly before start time, and seats may become available then. A standby line will form 30 minutes before the program.
