UPDATE ON PERFORMANCE CANCELLATION:
It is with great regret that we inform you of our cancellation of Julius Caesar. Please know that this decision was not taken lightly, and came as a result of measures taken university-wide.
On Thursday, March 12th, Marquette University made the decision to suspend all on-campus university-sponsored events with more than 50 attendees until at least April 10 (https://today.marquette.edu/2020/03/important-decisions-related-to-covid-19/). With this decision and other sweeping precautionary measures taken throughout Wisconsin and nationwide, we hope that it will slow the spread and impact of COVID-19. Our production was originally scheduled to run from April 3 – 19, but due to rehearsal limitations and a finite amount of time left in the Spring 2020 semester, the decision to cancel the production entirely felt the most conclusive during this period of many unknowns.
Due to these cancellations, please consider one of the following options for your purchased tickets or portion of subscription:
- Consider exchanging your tickets for Julius Caesar for any one of our upcoming shows during our 2020-2021 season, or serve as a discount towards the 2020-2021 season subscription.
- Consider your ticket purchase for Julius Caesar as a contribution to the theatre department.
- Request a refund of your tickets for Julius Caesar tickets. Please know that a full refund may take 1-2 weeks due to the anticipated volume of requests.
Please notify us of which option you prefer, and we can work towards the next steps of that process. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility at this time. If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact us via email at helfaer.boxoffice@marquette.edu or via phone at (414) 288-7504.
Julius Caesar
by William Shakespeare
Friends, Romans, countrymen, Shakespeare’s compelling drama about political assassination, disturbing dreams, and social turmoil is coming to the Helfaer stage. One of the bard’s most frequent and volatile plays, Julius Caesar stresses the moral conflicts of leadership and justice in a way that still resonates today. This cautionary tale of power, pride, and political machinations is not to be missed. Come, lend an ear.
