Joel Ansett got his songwriting start just outside of Pittsburgh, PA while attending Grove City College. Upon graduating in 2012 with a degree in history, he shifted his focus and began pursuing a career as a full time songwriter and musician. The ultimate fruit of that decision was the release of his debut full length album last fall, 'The Nature of Us,' which has earned him national recognition as a songwriter to watch. Dubbed by The Huffington Post as "the sonic lovechild of John Legend and The Tallest Man On Earth," Joel's songs combine folk and R&B to great effect; and beyond the record's sonic qualities, Artist Review wrote: "This album is soul therapy. It is effective and real. 'The Nature of Us' takes us within and shines our own light back at us." This will be Joel's first official show back in Pittsburgh since he moved west in 2014, a homecoming of sorts.
