Join the Jew­ish Book Coun­cil and its JBC Net­work part­ners for a very spe­cial con­ver­sa­tion with Jef­frey Rosen and Dahlia Lith­wick about Rosen’s new book, Con­ver­sa­tions with RBG: Ruth Bad­er Gins­burg on Life, Love, Lib­er­ty, and Law.
In Con­ver­sa­tions with RBG, Rosen, pres­i­dent and CEO of the Nation­al Con­sti­tu­tion Cen­ter, a law pro­fes­sor at GW, and a con­tribut­ing edi­tor at The Atlantic, presents a unique por­trait of Jus­tice Ruth Bad­er Gins­burg, draw­ing on twen­ty years of con­ver­sa­tions start­ing in the 1990s and con­tin­u­ing through the Trump Era. In the book, they dis­cuss the future of Roe v. Wade, her favorite dis­sents, the cas­es she would most like to see over­ruled, the #MeToo move­ment, how to be a good lis­ten­er, how to lead a pro­duc­tive and com­pas­sion­ate life, and the future of the Supreme Court itself.

Speak­ers

Jef­frey Rosen is the author of non­fic­tion books, includ­ing the recent Louis D. Bran­deis and William Howard Taft. He is the pres­i­dent and chief exec­u­tive offi­cer of the Nation­al Con­sti­tu­tion Cen­ter, a law pro­fes­sor at George Wash­ing­ton Uni­ver­si­ty, and a con­tribut­ing edi­tor for The Atlantic. He was pre­vi­ous­ly the legal affairs edi­tor of The New Repub­lic and a staff writer for The New York­er.

Dahlia Lith­wick is a senior edi­tor at Slate, and in that capac­i­ty, has been writ­ing their ​“Supreme Court Dis­patch­es” and ​“Jurispru­dence” columns since 1999. Her work has appeared in the New YorkTimes, Harper’s, The New York­er, The Wash­ing­ton Post, The New Repub­lic, and Com­men­tary, among oth­er places. She is host of Ami­cus, Slate’s award-win­ning biweek­ly pod­cast about the law and the Supreme Court. She was Newsweek’s legal colum­nist from 2008 until 2011. 

Lith­wick has held vis­it­ing fac­ul­ty posi­tions at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Geor­gia Law School, the Uni­ver­si­ty of Vir­ginia School of Law, and the Hebrew Uni­ver­si­ty Law School in Jerusalem.

Ms. Lith­wick earned her BA in Eng­lish from Yale Uni­ver­si­ty and her JD degree from Stan­ford Uni­ver­si­ty. She is cur­rent­ly work­ing on a new book, Lady Jus­tice, for Pen­guin Press. She is co-author of Me Ver­sus Every­body (Work­man Press, 2006) (with Brandt Gold­stein) and of I Will Sing Life (Lit­tle, Brown 1992) (with Lar­ry Berg­er). Her work has been fea­tured in numer­ous antholo­gies includ­ing Jew­ish Jocks (2012), What My Moth­er Gave Me: Thir­ty-one Women on the Gifts That Mat­tered Most (2013), About What was Lost (2006); A Good Quar­rel (2009); Going Rouge: Sarah Palin, An Amer­i­can Night­mare (2009); and Thir­ty Ways of Look­ing at Hillary (2008).
