Indigenous Storytelling Series
Join us at the Indigenous Peoples Experience this Winter for our brand-new Indigenous Storytelling Series! Stay cozy inside one of our Tipis while our storyteller shares captivating tales in the Indigenous storytelling tradition. You will also learn the importance of the relationship between culture, Indigenous storytelling, oral history, and modern forms of popular storytelling. Each program run will have curated stories for the season. The topic of this series is trickster stories, which can only be told in the winter months in many Indigenous cultures.
This experience is intended for a mature audience. Topics include themes of dark or mature humour, morality, violence, superstition, and possible discussion of modern Indigenous issues (MMIW, Treaty Rights, Residential Schools).
- This series is offered on select Saturday afternoons from 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm starting Saturday, February 10, and ending Saturday, March 23, 2024.
- The suggested arrival time is 1-1.5 hours before the program start time to fully explore the Indigenous Peoples Experience.
- Please note this experience is a specialty ticket bundle available for purchase for Youth or Adults that includes admission to the Indigenous Peoples Experience PLUS the Indigenous Storytellers Series. This experience cannot be purchased separately from admission.
- All proceeds from this program go directly back into supporting Indigenous Experience programming at Fort Edmonton Park.
