Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week (HH Week - https://hhweek.org ) is designed to educate the public, draw attention to the problem of poverty, and build up the base of volunteers and supporters for local anti-poverty agencies. Groups spend this week generating publicity about hunger and homelessness and holding a series of events to engage their communities.
The VISTA Collaborative at WVU is hosting the first ever Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week (HAHAW) Benefit Concert in order to help tackle these issues in our own community! It's about a month earlier than most HAHAW events, but these issues are always important to us so we thought we'd get a head start on tackling poverty before the holiday season. Join us at 123 Pleasant Street on October 18, 2018 to have fun and to get involved in doing so!
We will have great, local music from Tanagra, Van Gilder, and a collection of Morgantown bands known as "Chief Wahoo" performing from 7pm -11pm. Check out their pages below!
Tanagra: https://www.facebook.com/tanagramusic
Van Gilder: https://www.facebook.com/vangilderwv/
Tickets: $5 at the door (Canned food donations are highly encouraged!)
All proceeds from this event will go to serve Empty Bowls Monongalia in their mission to support individuals and families threatened by food insecurity.
