Honk! Jr.: The Ugly Duckling Musical

Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother's protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out being different is not a bad thing to be.

Based on Hans Christian Andersen's The Ugly Duckling, Honk! Jr. is  special one-act version of the hilarious fairytale musical that won Great Britain's 2000 Olivier Ward for Best Musical – and triumphed over such contenders as Mamma Mia! and The Lion King. Honk! Jr. tells the story of an odd looking baby duck, Ugly, and his quest to find his mother. This musical will keep the whole family entertained and will be performed on The Newton Theatre stage March 26th by our Newton Theatre Arts Academy students. 

The Newton Theatre Arts Academy is partnering with The Center for Prevention and Counseling. They will have a table at the theatre with materials from the Anti-Bullying Summit as well as other agency goodies. We are excited to partner with a local non-profit to continue the work happening in Sussex County to address a positive school climate for all children!
