OAG Management, in association with the Western Pennsylvania Police Athletic League (WPAL), is excited to bring Golden Gloves Boxing back to the DuBois area for the second consecutive year. The Bellamauro - located at 1017 Falls Creek - Reynoldsville Rd in Reynoldsville, PA- will be hosting the event on Saturday, March 15, 2014. Doors will open at 6:00pm and the boxing will begin at 7:30pm. The evening will feature approximately 8 live bouts ranging from first round to semi-final fights in various weight classes and divisions followed with live music by King Thaddeus & The Peace Cruisers.
Tickets for the event are $30 for Reserved Seating and $100 for VIP Gold Ringside. VIP Gold Ringside tickets include a complimentary cocktail hour with open bar and hors d'oeuvres from 6:30pm-7:30pm. Proceeds benefit the new WPAL Boxing & Fitness Center, a local non-profit 501c.3 organization located at 37 East Long Avenue, DuBois, PA 15801.
The fights are sure to be intense since the winners will advance to the next round of the Pennsylvania Golden Gloves Tournament. All open division boxers are fighting to earn their spot in representing the Pennsylvania Golden Gloves Boxing Team at the National Tournament of Champions held in Las Vegas, NV - May 11th through May 17th of 2014.
Golden Gloves Boxing Tournaments have been a stepping-stone to professional boxing careers for many amateur boxers. Former National Golden Gloves Champions include Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, Roy Jones Jr., Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr., just to name a few. The Golden Gloves also has a long history of producing Olympic medal winners. Since the first Golden Gloves Tournament in 1923, the Golden Gloves Organization has been committed to their mission of promoting emotional well-being, developing athletic skills, work ethic and discipline while providing entertainment to the community by putting on the annual Golden Gloves Tournament. The 2014 tournament begins in February and wraps up with the National Finals held in Las Vegas, NV in May.
Regional, State and National Golden Gloves Tournaments give boxing fans a chance to see some of the best young amateur boxers in the United States go toe-to-toe. Come get a glimpse of boxing's top prospects competing at the regional level Saturday, March 15th at the DuBois Country Club. the winners will advance to the Western PA Semi-Finals, Western PA Finals, and Pennsylvania State Championships then on to their chance at the most coveted amateur boxing title - Golden Gloves National Champion.
The WPAL encourages local law enforcement officials to workout in their gyms (free of charge) with the kids in the area and to interact with them on larger scale events such as the Golden Gloves.
