Event Description

In 2015, to assist in acquiring and conserving rare and important examples of Shenandoah Valley decorative, folk, and fine art, the Museum founded the Gaunt Collectors Society (GCS). Named in honor of longtime Museum supporters Shirley and the late Dr. Hunter Gaunt, the GCS in a few short years has helped the MSV acquire a number of exceptional Valley objects and conserve several more. The Gaunt Collectors Society supports the Museum’s efforts to preserve and expand the Shenandoah Valley Collection for our community today and for future generations.

The Gaunt Collectors Society offers opportunities to collectors and others with interest in and passion for expanding the MSV Collection. The Society supports the Collection through a dynamic series of social, educational, and philanthropic activities within the MSV and throughout the Shenandoah Valley.

Additional Gaunt Collectors Society Membership privileges include:

  • Access to the Collection through unique events, including exclusive Member previews, curator-led tours, and private Collection viewing

  • Society Members-only special events and trips

  • Hands-on workshops and behind-the-scenes access with the MSV curator

  • As a VIP Membership level, all the benefits of regular MSV Membership

Members of the Gaunt Collectors Society (GCS) make annual gifts of $1,200 or more for new acquisitions, conservation, and preservation of the MSV’s expanding Collection of exceptional Shenandoah Valley objects. Members of this MSV affinity society play a critical role in advancing the Museum’s mission to preserve and enrich the cultural life and heritage of the Shenandoah Valley.
