Experience some of Frida Kahlo’s favorite perfumes and consider the power of fragrance as a form of self-expression in this multisensory look at our special exhibition Frida Kahlo: Appearances Can Be Deceiving. Jessica Murphy, fragrance culture writer and educator and Manager of Visitor Experience, presents an intimate talk in which we’ll smell five perfumes and learn about their individual styles, stories, and place in Frida Kahlo’s life and work. Then, view examples of Kahlo’s art, clothing, and personal possessions in the exhibition and discuss the role of scent in how Kahlo shaped and shared her identity. Take home a piece of the experience with a gift of fragrance samples.
