Welcoming eight international countries to the Qualla Boundary, the Cherokee World Games are a multi-sport cultural event hosted by Cherokee cultural performers and stickball teams. This event includes cultural demonstrations and ball, precision, artistic and strength sports that encourage Folkmoot's groups to engage with the community and each other and to celebrate and share culture. Held at the Cherokee Fairgrounds, games begin at 2 pm and conclude at 7p m. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for maximum enjoyment. Food trucks and Cherokee vendors will be available on site.
Folkmoot, a word meaning "meeting of the people," provides communities all over Western North Carolina the opportunity to build a deeper sense of connection, mutual respect and shared purpose by experiencing other cultures. Dancers from 10 nations around the globe will perform at the 36th edition of Folkmoot Festival when it convenes July 18-28 in our beloved Smoky Mountains. Click for information on visiting countries.
