Five Parts and Foreign influences

Lully's five part orchestra was adopted by so many Germans who fell under the spell of French music.  The added middle voice enriches the texture and creates music of an unparalled richness.  It is a sound palate for masterpieces by Muffat, J. Ch. Bach, J. S. Bach, Fischer and the Italian Brescianello.
