Biographie de la facilitatrice (Lorraine Coutu-Lavallée)
Lorraine Coutu-Lavallée est une aînée michif française qui est née et a grandi à Saint-Laurent, au Manitoba. En 2011, Lorraine et quatre autres femmes de Saint-Laurent ont écrit le dictionnaire de la langue mitchif-française afin de préserver leur langue et leur culture, ce qui n'avait jamais été fait auparavant. Ils ont auto-publié le dictionnaire en 2016 et il peut être retrouvé sur les étagères de McNally Robinson sur l'avenue Grant à Winnipeg. Avant la COVID, elles enseignaient une session de langue à l'école de Saint-Laurent et prévoient de continuer à l'automne. Elles travaillent également avec le programme Headstart local pour enseigner le mitchif-français aux enfants d'âge préscolaire par le biais de jeux et d'activités.

In this workshop, participants will prepare traditional bannock while learning associated words in Michif.

Facilitor's Biography (Lorraine Coutu-Lavallée)
Lorraine Coutu-Lavallée is a Michif French elder who was born and raised in St. Laurent, Manitoba. In 2011, Lorraine and four other women from St. Laurent wrote the Michif-French language dictionary in order to preserve their language and culture, somethinge that had never been done before. They self-published the dictionary in 2016 and it can be found on the shelves at McNally Robinson on Grant Avenue in Winnipeg. Before COVID, they taught a language session at the St. Laurent school and plan to continue in the fall. They also work with the local Headstart program to teach Michif-French to pre-schoolers through games and activities.
