The annual Empty Bowls dinner serves up a simple meal of soup and bread as a reminder that too many people throughout our region are facing hunger with “empty bowls”. This year’s event benefiting Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and Just Harvest will feature artisan pottery for guests to take home; soups from your favorite restaurants; children’s activities; an auction featuring local artwork and activities; and a host of celebrity soup servers.
Volunteers are key to making this event a success! Please see the opportunities and their corresponding times listed on the right. Volunteers are given a voucher for a complimentary bowl and small soup to go.
Volunteers for this event will check-in at one of three times: 11:00am, 12:45pm, or 3:30pm and are scheduled for full three-hour to three-and-a-half hour shifts. All volunteer roles include some setup and cleanup responsibilities, so please arrive promptly and plan to stay until the end of your shift.
Empty Bowls is a 16+ volunteer event, except where noted as 18+. Each position may require standing and lifting up to 30 pounds. Please wear comfortable, closed-toed shoes for your safety and comfort. For more specific questions, please reach out to Ann Sanders at anns@justharvest.org
Parking and entrance information: Please avoid parking in the Rodef parking lot. Best options include Winchester Thurston School parking lot and street parking. Volunteers will enter in the main entrance from Rodef's parking lot and volunteer registration will be in the hallway to your right once you reach the top of the stairs. Please be sure to check-in at volunteer registration, located where you'll enter to get your nametag, directions, and voucher.
***Please note that this is the volunteer registration, NOT the event ticketing page. If you would like to purchase admission to Empty Bowls, please visit http://www.justharvest.org/event/emptybowls2017/***
