The Classic Evening Lantern Tour

This tour covers the same stops as our Classic Day Tour, but it goes by the light of kerosene lanterns.  Step back in time and enjoy the fun atmosphere!  It's just the right amount of spooky to be walking around the cemetery after dark while your guide shares stories of the fascinating people resting here in peace.  

Our two-hour guided tour is the perfect way "to have a colloquy among the tombs" as Washington Irving, famous author of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", did himself back in 1849.  

As The Legend Turns 200, we pay homage to the great author, but also introduce visitors to some of the other interesting people buried here like Andrew Carnegie, Samuel Gompers, William Rockefeller and more!  Learn about the amazing architecture and cool cemetery symbolism along the way.  This tour gives a great overview of why Sleepy Hollow Cemetery is so famous - all by the light of kerosene lanterns!  

Dates:  November 22nd, 23rd, and 30th from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Location: Sleepy Hollow Cemetery North Gate, 540 North Broadway.

Parking:  There is plenty of free parking inside the gate.

Skill level: This tour takes place in the dark.  The route includes several steep hills, some stairs, as well as grassy, unpaved and gravel roads.  There is no place to sit down during the tour.  The route is approximately 1.5 miles.  Due to the challenging nature of the route, it is not recommended for children under the age of 10.

NOTE: UNLESS IT IS A MEDICAL EMERGENCY, IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO LEAVE DURING THE TOUR AS THE GATES ARE LOCKED ONCE THE TOUR BEGINS.  PLEASE CONSIDER YOUR OWN ABILITIES - AS WELL AS EVERYONE ELSE'S IN YOUR GROUP - BEFORE PURCHASING TICKETS.

Weather: Sleepy Hollow Cemetery walking tours run rain or shine. If a tour is canceled due to severe weather such as high winds, lightning, or heavy rain, we will promptly refund the ticket purchase price, less processing fees.  Cancellations will be posted at least one hour before tour time on our website and Facebook page.  We will contact you via the email and phone number provided during the purchase process.
