Back by popular demand, Chico Community Ballet’s newly envisioned A Very Chico Nutcracker returns to the stage. It is the traditional Nutcracker ballet and an infusion of rich Chico history! Journey back in time to the magical night before Christmas at the home of Dr. Oscar Stansbury’s family, where their daughter, Angeline, receives a most mysterious gift of a Nutcracker that sparks a wondrous adventure. This production magically transports Angeline and the audience to enchanted lands where almond blossoms twirl and visitors from faraway lands, waltzing flowers, and special surprises await all! A true holiday treat not to be missed.
This innovative and new direction of this timeless ballet classic, began with the discovery of an old photo of Angeline Stansbury’s bedroom, with walls covered with posters from around the world. The Artistic Director created a fictional story influenced by this young local girl. Join Angeline on her magical journey with her Nutcracker, surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenes in Chico landscape and history.
