Drafted 4th overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Byram was acquired by Buffalo at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline in exchange for forward Casey Mittelstadt. 

Byram has established himself as one of Buffalo's top offensive defenseman.
