BEYOND BABEL is a critically acclaimed theatrical dance show created by Keone & Mari Madrid and Hideaway Circus. Following a hit run in San Diego, the showbegan performances Off-Broadway in February 2020. After a pandemic hiatus, BEYOND BABEL is returning to finish off a limited eight-week run at the Gym at Judson on Washington Square Park.

Inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, BEYOND BABEL is about the division of families, friends, and a community of people as authorities decide to build a wall between them. We follow two divinely linked lovers as they reconcile with the rising tensions of a populace cut in half. The show is set to a contemporary soundtrack and features a cast of twelve elite dancers.
BEYOND BABEL also features large crochet backdrops, art installations, and yarn-based props by singular visual artist London Kaye, costume design by Barbara Erin Delo, and lighting design by Tony Award winner Jeff Croiter and Sean Beach.
To maintain the health and safety of the Beyond Babel company and patrons, the Gym at Judson has upgraded its ventilation system to a new isolated HVAC with MERV 13 filters, and an antimicrobial haze is deployed during the performance. The entire company of Beyond Babel is fully vaccinated and Covid tested at regular intervals.
All patrons and staff must be masked at all times. Audience capacity will be limited to enable social distancing, with all seating spaced 2-3 ft apart from other parties. Proof of vaccination will be required at the door, and a contactless entry and exit process will be implemented. The venue and production will adhere to all New York City protocols for enhanced cleaning, sanitation, and handling audience flow.

- Special effects, such as haze, strobes and other multimedia-oriented music and lights, will be used during the show.
