Bahama Village Stroll
Bahama Village Stroll
This stroll takes you into the colorful Caribbean historic district where Bahamians settled in the 19th century and Hemmingway frequented for boxing matches and cock fights during his time in Key West. You’ll board the Old Towne Trolley after a glass of bubbly at the Casa Marina bound for Santiago Bodega, a tapas style restaurant and bar offering eclectic, flavor explosion small plates in a sophisticated atmosphere. Next we’ll stroll to Firefly, a modern, chef-driven Southern restaurant focusing on the best ingredients and a mixture of traditional and molecular techniques to create the best possible versions of familiar dishes. We’ll make a quick, special stop at Johnson’s Grocery for a sample of their famous conch ceviche – a Bahamian family recipe passed down from generation to generation. From there we venture to Blue Heaven, a place that’s become its own well known destination where you dine al fresco under a tropical canopy with chickens and cats roaming the premises almost as famous as the food. Across the street at La Creperie, the new French owners will serve up signature savory authentic crepes with a bold Bordeaux pairing. We’ll end our Stroll at the Blue McCaw Island Eats and Bar. Part restaurant, fondue hut, make-your-own bloody Mary’s bar, island bar and event space, this newest attraction to Bahamas Village blends nicely with the eclectic nature of the neighborhood.
Please meet at theCasa Marina Resort, (at the hospitality suite in the Flagler Bar, 1500 Reynolds), by 5 pm in order to check in and enjoy a glass of bubbly in the courtyard. The trolleys will depart promptly at 5:20 pm. (In the unlikely event you are late, please join the group at the next restaurant in the stroll).
This is a small group and you’ll be escorted by your local hosts to each stop. There is a fair amount of walking so comfortable shoes and a jacket for cooler weather will make your stroll more enjoyable. Note: The Strolls begin and end at the Casa Marina. Valet and on-street parking is available.
All three strolls (Stock Island, Bahamas Village and Historic Seaport) will reconvene at the final stop on the beach at the Casa Marina Resort. We encourage you to stick around to relax with your new friends and enjoy some island music set to beautiful moonlit ocean views.
[Note all Strolls are subject to change in venues and pairings.]
