Event Description
Bach loved French music from his earliest days and his youthful compositions are flavored with French style. He wrote beautifully for the viola da gamba, and instrument like the harpsichord enjoying its sunset and retreat from the contemporary musical scene. Yet Bach wrote modern music for both instruments. Josh Lee joins Appel for two of the great sonatas for harpsichord and gamba, and the Ensemble joins in to present works of Couperin, Rameau, and Mondonville.
