In addition to the history of the mansion and the families who lived here, this in-depth tour will focus on Lyndhurst's important collection of paintings, sculptures, furniture, and decorative arts. We will see what wealthy Americans in the 19th and early 20th century were collecting and how and why that changed over time.
Highlights include paintings by Rembrandt Peale, William Adolphe Bouguereau, Jean Leon Gerome, Camille Corot, Theodore Rousseau, and Gustave Courbet; sculpture by Horatio Greenough, Erastus Dow Palmer, and John Rogers; windows and lamps by Louis Comfort Tiffany; and furniture by Alexander Jackson Davis, Alexander Roux, George Hunzinger, and the Herter Brothers.
Please be advised that this tour requires long periods of standing and two flights of stairs.
All visitors must have a pre-purchased ticket to enter the Mansion. A limited number of tickets are available for each tour, and tours do sell out.
For everyone’s safety, Lyndhurst encourages masks in all indoor spaces. As in any public setting, we cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed to COVID-19. By visiting Lyndhurst, you voluntarily assume such risks.
All ticket purchases are non-refundable.
