Event Description
Aaron Copland's "Lincoln Portrait" 2025

Join us for a symphonic tribute to Abraham Lincoln in the Music Hall, featuring Aaron Copland’s beloved work, Lincoln Portrait. This special event celebrates the upcoming return of our nationally recognized Civil War Symposium later in the week.

Aaron Copland composed Lincoln Portrait in 1942 during the tumultuous years of World War II. The orchestral score weaves together some of Lincoln’s most powerful speeches, delivered by a narrator alongside the music.

Before the concert, we invite you to join us for guided tours of a true national treasure: The Capt. Thomas Espy Post, one of the last remaining Grand Army of the Republic Posts in the country.

James Gourlay, well known to Pittsburgh-area audiences as the Music Director of the River City Brass Band, will conduct Duquesne’s Wind Symphony.

A dessert and coffee reception will follow the performance in the Lincoln Gallery. We hope to see you there!

All ticket sales are final.
