Event Description
The Local Food Movement

The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster, MA continues its local food series, Putting it on the Table withBecoming a Locavore: Finding the Best Local Food on Cape Cod”, presented by Edible Cape Cod Editor, Dianne Langeland

Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 1pm       Free with Museum Admission

When Dianne started publishing Edible Cape Cod in July 2004, there was only one farmers’ market in Orleans. She had to travel over the bridge to pick up her weekly CSA share since there weren’t any closer, and there was virtually no source for locally-raised meat. Today, you can shop at a farmers’ market every day of the week in towns across the Cape, you can join egg, cheese, produce and poultry CSAs, and there is now grass-raised beef, heritage breed pigs, organically raised lamb, ducks, turkeys and chickens easily available. In this presentation, she will share some of the most amazing local food discoveries to help you become more of a locavore.
