In The Dance of Death, which Strindberg considered to be his finest play, we meet Edgar and Alice, a witty, long-married couple and the obvious forbears of Albee’s George and Martha in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf.  Married perhaps 25 years too long, this career military man and his grand dame of a former stage actress wife reside in a metaphorically apt former prison on a remote island off the Swedish coast. As their silver wedding anniversary approaches, their scathing and hysterically funny banter escalates, even ensnaring Kurt, an "innocent bystander". Will they survive to celebrate?
