Based on a true story… One that begins in 1967 with a girl of 14 moving to Nashville to join her father and meet his new wife who just happened to be Tammy Wynette. Not many people had heard of Tammy at that point but that was all about to change!

Renaissance Theatre is proud to present the musical, Standing By…Tammy Wynette, playing for one weekend only at the Baytree Council for the Performing Arts in Red Bay, Alabama on September 15 at 2:00pm and 7:00pm. Several songs made famous by Tammy Wynette and George Jones will be performed amoung the 26 songs in the show. Standing By…, written by Robert Riddle Baker, is based on the true story of Donna Chapel, who at the age of 14 sang harmony and toured with Wynette who became her stepmother in 1967.
