The new musical, Standing By…Tammy Wynette, is opening at Renaissance Theatre. Featuring Erin Johnson as Tammy, Charelle Hudgins is the narrator, and Barry Norwood as George Jones. Sid Falling, Barry Norwood and Kelly Lynn make up the band. Several songs made famous by Tammy Wynette and George Jones will be performed. Standing By…, written by Robert Riddle Baker, is based on the true story of Donna Chapel, who at the age of 14 sang harmony and toured with Wynette while she was married to Donna’s father. Don Chapel, Donna’s father was married to Wynette in the 1960’s when Tammy’s career first started. After she started to become a major artist, she released Stand By Your Man, as she divorced Don and married George. The show contains approximately 28 songs.
