OABI, the acronym for Once Around Belle Isle, is a 7-mile paddle race around Belle Isle in the international waters of Windsor, Onatrio and Detroit, MI. What started as an underground race in 2012 with 25 Detroit/Windsor paddlers has turned into a Midwest paddle destination and the premier beach party in Detroit.

With an expanded program in 2014, OABI appealed to not only hardcore stand-up paddlers, but also kayakers, rowers, and those who are completely new to paddling. By combining a newbie-friendly paddlerama with classes and demos, live music, craft beer, food trucks, and a wide variety of paddle vendors, OABI is a festive and welcoming environment that celebrates Detroit’s rightful place as one of the world’s primary centers of water sports and recreation.

7-mile WPA points race around Belle Isle. For experienced paddlers. Includes: race entry, paddlerama participation, and entry to beach festival. Racers also receive a racer shirt, gift bag, and exclusive happy hour. Each advance race ticket purchased enters you for a chance to win prizes in exclusive raffles and early event entry.

MOOSEJAW PADDLERAMA

Access to newbie friendly series of paddle classes, demos, and games on the beach. Includes: paddlerama participation and entry to beach festival. Classes are limited and subject to availability. Ticket does not guarantee participation in a class. Arrive early to sign up. Each advance paddlerama ticket purchased enters you for a chance to win prizes in exclusive raffles and early event entry.

A RECREATION PASSPORT IS REQUIRED TO ENTER BELLE ISLE.
