Molly Parden
Georgia may lay claim to Molly Parden, but her music carries us somewhere farther away - and closer to ourselves. Her 2013 release, Time Is Medicine, reveals beautifully crafted melodies and angelic refrains, enough to ensure the admiration of her Nashville peers and collaborators. Performing alongside her fellow crooners and fans, like Matthew Perryman Jones, her songwriting illuminates the intimacy and honesty of an artist who is beginning to define her stars and follow them even further than the reins of the Cumberland Plateau.
Charlie Whitten
Charlie Whitten grew up during the last gasp of the 20th century, a time when grungy rock bands and teen idols ruled the airwaves. You can’t blame the guy for looking back a bit, for rustling through his Dad’s collection of vintage records and finding some better music to soundtrack his life. Years later, the Nashville-based songwriter is rolling those influences into his own sound, a mellow brand of folk-rock that tips its hat to Pink Floyd’s psychedelic swirl one minute and Simon and Garfunkel’s acoustic wistfulness the next. Some would call him an old soul. Others would just say he’s got good taste.
Paul Luc
Americana/folk rock musician Paul Luc just released a new full length album called "Tried & True". It pays homage to the records he was raised on from artists like Neil Young, The Band, and Tom Petty to modern day revivalists like Chuck Ragan, Cory Branan, and Justin Townes Earle. Producer Dave Hidek explains: "The songs on this record are transcendent; finely crafted. You could break them down to their foundational elements and reconstruct them for orchestra or klezmer band and they'd still be striking and evocative, which I feel is the indication of a well written song."
