Miss Tess is a New York City based songwriter and performing musician, who tours regularly with her band, as Miss Tess and The Talkbacks. In addition to Tess' tasty licks and prowess on her 1940s archtop guitar, the current lineup includes Will Graefe on guitar, Larry Cook on upright bass, and Matt Meyer on drums. Inspired by styles of vintage swing, blues, country, and early rock-n-roll; Miss Tess draws comparisons to artists such as Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Peggy Lee, and Chuck Berry, but maintains a style all of her own. She has just released a brand new album, The Love I Have For You, now out on rootsy label Signature Sounds. The album
"At the heart of Miss Tess’ new album is old style country with a stunning version of Hank Williams’ "The Alabama Waltz",plus a wonderful knowing late night smoky barroom version of the Willie Nelson classic, "Night Life". When Miss Tess sings,”Listen to what the blues are saying”, this critic could for many hours." –Country Music People
“I don’t know of anyone else right now touring in the Americana scene that has
such an eclectic, jazzy, old school & interesting vibe. There’s an authenticity present in Miss Tess’ music. She is real. And she is rare." –No Depression
"An unabashed reminder that there's nothing wrong with casting a wide net... Her versatility is a rejoinder to how we expect to put musicians into neat little boxes according to genre." –The Boston Globe
